There have been a lot of posts recently about this subreddit being overwhelmingly pro-defense and there is no denying that it is. BUT 99.9% of the people who support the brothers do not claim that they are NOT guilty. Their “guilt,” insofar as we are talking about who murdered Kitty and Jose, was NEVER in question (at least not after the brothers admitted to it back in 1990). As long as we’re operating within the criminal justice system as is, almost EVERYONE agrees that Lyle and Erik shot their parents to death with guns they bought 2 days in advance and they had to do some jail time.

What being “pro-defense” or “supporting the brothers” today means is that they deserve to get out of prison now. They have been incarcerated for 35 years and that much jail time is enough for their crime.

So, if you are “pro-prosecution” or “against the brothers,” then what you are essentially saying is that they do not deserve to get out of prison even after being there for 35 years. If you want to say that, then you must have an argument for why 35 years is not long enough punishment for their crime.

What we are disagreeing about is whether they should be let out now or not. And yes, an overwhelming majority of the members of this sub think that the brothers have done enough time and deserve to be let out now. If you disagree, then you must have an argument for why they should continue staying in prison, NOT for why they are killers.
