I just read this article, which I found to be very interesting for this specific case.
It navigates abuse and children and teenagers bahaviour when confronted with abuse and how society views parricide over parents who kill / abuse their own children. Also, he talks how children who are abused by their parents and commit parricide tend to do well in prison and rehabilitate. This assimilates a lot to the Menendez brothers case and supports their claims of abuse due to their behaviour not only then but through the years that they have been incarcerated.
