Florida is a hotbed for Covid-19 rn, but it is also a hotbed for melodic hip hop. Honestly choosing what artists to feature for this was tough because of how deep Florida's current roster is but I ended up going with artists who I feel like are up next for major mainstream popularity.
Lil Poppa
His name might be Lil Poppa, but he's got big potential. An altar boy turned rapper, Poppa mixes those heavenly melodies with gritty lyrics about life in the streets of Jacksonville.
Yungeen Ace
Yungeen Ace is another Jacksonville native who is no stranger to life in the streets. After being shot in a drive by shooting where three of his friends were murdered, Yungeen Ace dropped a mixtape that took his career to the next level and he hasn't slowed down since.
JGreen
A former YNW affiliate and longtime friend of Melly, JGreen got his start when he featured on Melly's track 'Youngins'. People took notice and the following year he dropped two back to back hits on Worldstarhiphop which really put him on the map.
Jackboy
Snipergang member Jackboy dropped his debut 'Stick Up Kid' after being released from jail in late 2016. The project was a hit on Soundcloud and had features from PnB Rock and Kodak Black. Another arrest slowed down Jackboy's rise to fame but he's been killing it this past year with multiple hit songs getting millions of plays and streams and he's only getting better in my opinion.
HOTBOII
HOTBOII is an Orlando, FL rapper who is blowing up with the quickness right now. He started making music at his house after his mom invested in a little home studio for him to help keep him out of trouble. In just a couple years HOTBOII would drop his first big hit "YG's" which has 3 million plays on YouTube and Soundcloud. HOTBOII has been riding that same momentum ever since and he's been having a big 2020 so far with his latest project Kut Da Fan On receiving a lot of praise.
