Hey all. Back whenever it was, I was very excited about the introduction of the Orbital routes (903, 902, 901). At the time, it was suggested/proposed to have 901 continue from the airport to Werribee, and another orbital route inside the 903's radius.
Because I'm a PT nerd, I have planned these two routes, just for fun. Let me know what you think, and your ideas about these routes or other routes.
901 - from the airport, would connect to Werribee via Keilor Park, Keilor, Taylors Lakes, Watergardens SC and station, Brimbank SC, Deer Park Station, Sunshine West, Derrimut, Laverton Station, Point Cook and Werribee Station, using Airport Drive, Keilor Park Dr, Old Calder Hwy, Melton Hwy, Kings Rd, Station Rd, Fitzgerald Rd, Point Cook Rd, Sneydes Rd.
My 904 suggestion would operate as a full loop route in both directions, servicing Footscray, Moonee Ponds, Essendon, Brunswick, Clifton Hill, Collingwood, Richmond, St. Kilda, South Melbourne and Docklands. It would connect Footscray Station, Flemington Racecourse, Ascot Vale Station, Moonee Poinds Junction, Essendon Station, Anstey Station, Rushall Station, Clifton Hill Interchange and Station, MCG, Richmond Station, St. Kilda Junction and Light Rail Station, Albert Park and MSAC, South Melbourne Market, Montague LRS, DFO South Wharf, Marvel Stadium and Southern Cross Station and District Docklands. It would use Ballarat Rd, Smithfield Rd, Ascot Vale Rd, Mt. Alexander Rd, Albion St, Nicholson St, Holden St, Queens Pde, Hoddle St, Punt Rd, Barkly St, Grey St, Canterbury Rd, Ferrars St, Montague St, Wurrundjeri Way and Footscray Rd.
There are some obvious major connections, like Marvel and the MCG, Flemington Racecourse and many train stations and tram lines, shopping precincts. It does completely overlap the 404, so this route could be discontinued, and if a 904 were to run at a minimum of every 10-15 minutes, it would be a significant improvement for this corridor.
