Has anyone ever had a changing/growing mole that WASN'T melanoma ?
Post Body

I am 25 - I have a mole that I noticed has grown/changed over time. It is still small (3mm) but nonetheless I am still quite worried. I have an appointment scheduled for next week to get it looked at. Has anyone ever had a changing mole that turned out to be benign (as an adult) ?

Yes. I'm late 20s and I had one mole in particular that kind of just appeared about 8 years ago. It started off just almost like a freckle. It then grew, became raised, became uneven, became large, and developed patches of blue and purple. It ticked every box for a suspicious mole and it was certainly eye catching.

Two separate dermatologists at different points in time said that the mole did look pretty 'impressive' and 'rare' but was not cancer.

Over the past few years, it's grown even more, changed shape, and the colours have changed too. It got to the point where well-meaning people would just stop me to ask if I'd had it checked.

I spoke to a dermatologist again last week who said, again, he doesn't think it's cancer but worth getting it removed as a precaution. I got it removed last week and got the results today and it's not cancer.
