Question about hotel

I recently made the decision to go to MegaCon next year and I have a question about booking a hotel through the site. I feel like I know the answer (or should know it, anyway), but when making the reservation and inputting your payment info, does it charge you right away or is it like any other reservation where it just needs the CC info to hold it?
