So in last cons I’ve experienced the last minute cancellations. They stink but it happens. One year Kate Bekinsale was walking to the convention center when a fan attacked her or something and she dipped.
This makes me wonder if this is a common reason as to why celebs cancel.
I was excited to meet Joseph Quinn but I genuinely feel like his popularity blowing up as quickly as it did and all the teenage girls just flooding his socials and sending death threats and comments of pictures of him out with another woman and his dating profile getting leaked really freaked him out and he has just been in this overwhelming whirlwind that is now his life thanks to a character he probably didn’t think would bring so much attention.
He could easily have seen the amount of sales for this con and just said nope.
Which also leads me to say. Some people don’t realize that these celebrities and real people. And acting is their job. Yes at cons they have to be nice, especially if they are charging you to meet them. But for those seeing this as some opprotunity to be physical or personal with them, it’s not. Pretty sure this is why photo Ops take half a second to do and autographs aren’t much longer.
At past cons during photo ops you can sense how uncomfortable they are being so close to so so so many strangers. Just don’t be surprised if they won’t allow any of those cute poses you may see from previous years
