Hello there!

So I’ve tried this a few times and the responses almost always fall into these categories:

1. The fakes. They’re always fun right? They’re easy to spot if you know what you’re looking for. They evolve, from the 32 year old in texas who is in nursing school, to the 32-36 year old who lives in CA and runs a health spa, to the 35 year old who just happens to live in or near my town and…..asks if we can speak on instagram instead. At least the crypto bots in NJ are in hibernation for the moment.
2. The red flags. 🚩 also easy to spot if you know what to look for. From no history in their profile to they spill their guts too soon to too sexual too soon, a few chats with this person and the flags come right out.
3. The jekyl/hyde: all amazing the first day, says all the right things, instant connection, you go to bed smiling. Then the next day: nothing. A completely different person. Training to be a narcissist perhaps?
4. The “hi.” They answer the ad with just that. Hi. Or hey. Or hello. Which means I have to respond with the sentence I hate saying: tell me about you. What’s even worse is when they respond to that with “what would you like to know.” I feel like saying….hey got a resume?
5. The ghost. Enough said.

I can go on but this is a good sampling. Your experience may vary.

As for me: I’m 50. I live on Long Island. Life time New Yorker. I’m 6’ tall, still have my hair, don’t need a blue pill, and work as a data analyst for a major health care company.

I live with my seven cats, and host a podcast on cats called shelter cats.

I like to rebuild computers, specially Macs, I feed homeless cats, have a good core group of friends and have recently mastered spam fried rice.

What am I looking for? None of the above.

Oh and please be on the east coast of the US. No time zones or passports please.
