Why do souls want to come back at all?

I always hear people say things like 'souls growth'. But this answer doesn't do it for me personally. There has to be actual long term benefits to coming here and putting yourself through all this.
A membership card to a fancier level of heaven on your way back? Why even risk coming here in the first place?What is available here, that isn't over there? And would spirits actually miss and yearn for those Earthly things that weren't available?
