I could not meditate last night, no matter how hard I tried…

So last night I was having a bit of anxiety, just stupid anxiety about nothing and I wanted to calm my heart down.
I have a few guided meditations that I’m used to using and laid on my back and closed my eyes but nothing worked for me. I couldn’t detach from my thoughts, I couldn’t focus on my breathing, just my fast heart rate. I switched meditations several times. I tried so hard!!!
How do I just detach and truly reap the benefits of meditation?
