I'm wondering if anyone here has extensive, intermediate to advanced experience with hitting jhana through kasina meditation. I've been practicing with a kasina for a while now but have struggled to map my experiences. I know sometimes trying to fit experiences to a map can be counter-productive but, at this point, I could definitely use some help from a more experienced kasina meditator.
Basically, I get to the point where the retinal after-image of the object (a blue plate) is steady in my vision and I'm relatively still and concentrated (I'm using my experience with breath meditation as a measuring stick for this). However, no counter-image ever seems to emerge from the after-image and stay. It's possible I'm just not concentrated enough but I'd love some reassurance about this.
