Letting go of thoughts but don’t I need them to some extend?

Post Body

My brain tends to try to optimize future as much as it can. I know it’s not possible at all. But it actively -especially at the night after the sun goes down- thinks about the future and tries to come up with ways how I can reach where I want to reach in life.

Generally when this happens, I always come up with different and interesting ideas (at least at the time they feel like it). So even though it creates stress in my brain, and I do realise this, I am having hard time letting them go cause to some extend my brain finds those thoughts useful.

I’ve been meditating on and off for a while. And I remember at the start of my journey, I’ve been letting go of all thinking in my free time. But now that I’ve had a long break and getting into it again, I am a bit confused. Isn’t some strategic thinking necessary to direct your life in the right direction? Or is it just simply “be in the moment cause you’ll actively make decisions to bring you to the right place for you if so”.

If you let go all the thinking and have a sense of space in the mind. When do you think? I feel like there is something over here I can’t quite get about meditation. I am open for book recommendations as much as advice.

Thank you in advance!
