Is shikantaza really all I need?

Post Body

Fairly experienced meditator here. I can sit for a few hours a day without any issues. My guru has recently directed me back to shikantaza which I have been doing faithfully for weeks.

Past experience : 25 years of being on a spiritual path (with many spiritual experiences, too long to list) and long stints of meditating before. I have done pretty intense shikantaza before, with visions/healing experiences. Did about 2 months of meditation to connect with Higher Self but didn't feel that much better. Also did a lot of meditation self-inquiry, which seemed to help.

I'm coming to meditation this time mainly because of my teacher and because it's integral on the spiritual path. I don't know if it's "working" per se, but the more I sit, the more I realize the fundamental empty nature of mind. It seems to exist but it...doesn't, not really.

I have the capacity to keep up this schedule for at least 2 more weeks, so I thought I would check in with more experienced meditators here.
