There is a myth (popular and destructive) that in order to become a suitable vessel for contemplation one most first master the technique of counting: silently, and mentally while sitting cross legged with one’s hands in their lap. But was this technique taught by the Buddha? Can you find a Pali Sutta or a Sanskrit Sutra where its benefits are enumerated?
Training in concentration indulges our yang tendencies (rigid and controlling). This path of patriarchy goes many places but peace is not one of them. The opposite of yang is yin, as the opposite of being rigid and controlling is, instead, to be flexible and laid back.
To traverse the peaceful path of matriarchy during each inhalation tap into your sympathetic nervous systems tendency to practice mindfulness: spontaneously, habitually, easily, and effectively; and during each exhalation access your parasympathetic nervous system’s “wiring” to practice the physical relaxation and mental release that facilitates the meditation of letting-go.
Coordinate the slogans “Notice this…” and “relaxing!” with your breathing (every twelve hours or so) that you too could meditate like a Jedi. _/\_
