Newb on Xbox One with a few questions.

Hey y'all, I've been playing this game for I would say two almost 3 hours now. And I was wondering there isn't really a tutorial per se but there's a lot going on here. I've watched people play it and I've heard people talk about it. I know a lot of it involves farming and building up your settlement and stuff like that. Is following the chapters a good approach for learning the game and what to do when or is there a better guide out there?
