I get nothing for making this post, but I have noticed a spike in DUII impounds and a drop in people calling us for a drunk tow home this year. The company I work for will tow you home if you are drunk at no charge.
For a comparison, if your vehicle is DUII impounded you will need to pay the police release fee and minimum $300 to the tow company to get your vehicle back. You also get all the joys of fighting a DUII case, but that's another story.
I've heard rumors and gotten some frequent questions over the years so I've compiled a little fact list. However, please call before making assumptions.
- You can be at a party or bar or anywhere drunk with no way of getting home other than driving.
- You must have a vehicle to tow.
- We are only taking you and your vehicle to one home.
- We can handle up to four of your buddies if you tell us ahead of time and are willing to wait, but everyone goes where the car goes.
- You must be with your vehicle when we tow it. We get some calls where the person hopped 5-10 blocks away and wants us to drive them to their car!
- We can take you anywhere within reason. The general limit is 10 miles but on a slow night I've been allowed to run people from Medford to main points in Ashland and Gold Hill, for example.
- Wait times fluctuate wildly. Call a couple hours before you are done partying. Call again an hour before.
- If we can't get ahold of you when ready to pick you up then you'll go to the back of the line.
- We do not and for that matter cannot require you to participate in diversion or traffic school.
- Please remember to tip the driver.
- Also do try to avoid physically handling the drivers during the trip.
Note that we are a 3A provider but this is through a partnership with MADD. We do this every year between Thanksgiving and New Years Day.
I won't name the company, but the phone number is 541-772-4040; the same number you see on the city parking lot signs all over downtown.
