Is it just me, or do B Lasers kinda suck?

Greetings all. Finally started playing the latest DLC for MW5, and feel it was worth the price of admission. I just hit prestige 2 in arena and am slowly experimenting with the new weapons. Thus far, I like some of the melee weapon additions, but am pretty disappointed in the B laser (despite being an energy weapon fan). It feels like it's range, rate of fire, and damage are just garbage considering the massive heat spike it generates, especially when compared to something like a PPC or LP laser.

Is it just me, or are the B lasers not very good?
