Hi, I am buying a Mercedes C240 2002 next week and I needed advice on what is causing the car not to start. The owner said that he knows for sure that one of the rear calipers is seized and needs to be rebuilt, but is this a cause for the car not to start at all? For the car to run, he bypassed one of the Fuses to the battery and only then the car can turn on. Also, on the dashboard, there is a sign that says Brake Pad Wear Replacement.
The owner said that when he uninstalled the battery and only installed it again after 12 hours, the car started normally, but 15min after driving the brake pad warning light comes back on, and if you turn the car off, you will not be able to turn the car back on normally.
Does anyone have any advice on this situation? Can a seized caliper completely immobilize this car? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
