Post Body

So let's start with the symptoms.
Today I was driving to work and my engine was running smoothly and normally, then, suddenly it was off.
The car cranks, ie starter spins engine, and nothing hits. While cranking I get backfires in the exhaust, but it doesn't even try to start. Here is what we know.
The physical motor and components are basically new. I rebuilt the engine roughly 1 year and 5k ago, new timing set new crank rods cam pistons.... It's a new motor essentially. I'm confident that I haven't jumped timing teeth.

Upon the issue, the truck threw a crankshaft position sensor code. I installed a new one (my new one was under warranty) and nothing changed whatsoever.

I know I have spark, but the timing is off I know I have fuel and can hear the pump I think the issue is either. 1. Cam sensor in dizzy 2. ICM. The sensor mounted on the coil. 3. Bad distributor?? 4. Somehow my new crankshaft position sensor is still bad. Ie could be the wiring to it etc.

ANY thoughts or experience with these ignition systems or just on what you think is wrong would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone know how to test these sensors with a multimeter?? Thanks so much 😊. Rocky
