Hi guys, so I drive a BMW Z4 3.0 2007, nice straight six engine but doesn't sound like much, so I decided to mess around with an exhaust system and can't stand it.
Basically, the resonator has been replaced with a large magnaflow muffler (24" long and absorptive) and the backbox (muffler?) at the back is gone. So my muffler is in the centre rather than at the rear. Now I can't tell if it's just loud, or if it's droning. But at motorway speed is pretty hideous so I need to do something.
I'm not sure what I actually need, am I right in thinking some extra smaller mufflers before the new big one would overall bring the sound down, whereas a couple of resonators (dual pipe) before the muffler might take out the 3k rev droning out?
Final note, because I know I will be told. Yes, I am an idiot for messing with my exhaust in the first place, and I wish I hadn't even thought about touching it and wasting money on it and now it sounds ass. (It sounds pretty lovely between 2.75k-3.75k revs to be fair).
