Looking to see if someone can narrow down this problem a bit. I am clueless in regards to cars so I'll try find any other info if it helps.
I have a 2013 Dacia Sandero and for the past couple of months I've been having some engine misfiring problems.
It has happened 4 times since May, most recently last week. What happens is, when I start up my engine and leave the car in neutral, the rev meter starts bouncing up and down. If I then try to drive the engine starts stuttering and losing power then the engine light starts flashing. If I then turn the engine off and try it again, sometimes it works or sometimes the same thing happens again but generally if I leave it for a short while it works as normal again. Now I just start the engine and if the rev meter is jumping about I just turn it off and wait which has worked so far. Also, when I had the problem most recently, the car did have small hiccup when trying to start the engine. I turned the key and it sounded like it was struggling to start so I had to hold the key turned for a bit longer than usual. This is the only time that has happened.
If I manage to start the car and the revs look fine, it never has an issue while driving so it only happens when I start the engine and I can tell straight away.
I've plugged in the diagnostic tool and it has shown P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 which are the misfire codes for individual cylinders but not all at the same time. P0313 also showed up once(misfire with low fuel) but I reset that and it didn't show again when the problems happened again.
I have googled it and the general idea seems to be it could be spark plugs, ignition coils or a vacuum leak. I was just wondering if anyone thinks it could be narrowed down based on how it's presenting here and if a self fix would be possible? I've booked it into the garage next week but £110 just to look for an intermittent problem is making me want to fix it myself if possible.
Thanks for any advice.
