Hi everyone, my partner and i have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra which occasionally screeches when shifting into reverse, but is able to shift into reverse when turned off. Its a high pitched screeching sound, and no matter how hard you push the clutch or stick it wont shift. This happens maybe once a month, maybe less. When it doesn't act up, there's a slight screech and it slips into place. All other gears are fine, no slipping, nothing.
We took it in and our guy said the clutch is gone, and he has a guy who will buy it for 500 (brakes and a rotor need replacing, windshield cracked, handbrake is broken as well). He brought it back in to test the hydraulics and said it didn't make a difference when he bled the lines.
Do you think it's a clutch issue? I've been reading online about the possibility of some items in the clutch assembly or some easy fixes. We are planning on selling the car, and I want to make sure I'm not selling the car short if it's an easier fix than replacing the clutch.
Thank you!
