i posted a while ago regarding my A/C not working (https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/comments/4qpfn0/car_temperature_gauge_rises_to_hot_while_idle/) and how the temperature gauge was skyrocketing to hot. I took my 2002 Honda CRV to the mechanic and he told me it's my fan, so I paid $450 for the fans to be replaced.
After 5 days of having cold A/C, it just randomly stopped getting cold and just blowing fans. The car temperature gauge is fine, i.e. not going to the hot section, so i'm not sure what it is. One day, when i turned the A/C on, it would make a huge crackling noise and i took it back to the mechanic that replaced my fans. He said it was the compressor and he would replace it for $550 in total. I didnt want to pay that right now so I declined the service until further notice. After that day though, if i turned on the A/C, that noise disappeared. So I really don't know if it's the compressor and I don't know what the problem is! I check to see if I needed Antifreeze, but it's not empty. Do you mind telling me what the problem is in my car? I really thought replacing the fans would fix my A/C, but that only lasted for 5 days.. Thank you so much!
