06 Toyota Prius with check engine code P1121
Post Body

A check engine light came on in my Prius today, had it checked and the code was P1121: Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Stuck. Apparently it's a known issue that the valve gets stuck. I checked for leaks and there was no residue and the coolant level was fine so I doubt it's a leak. My research leads me to leads me to be about $500 to get the valve replaced.

  • I do not have $500 dollars.
  • Like most adults with jobs, children, school, etc. I need to drive my car.
  • My mechanical skills are limited to books, hammering nails and turning screw drivers.

What are my options here? Can I drive the car as is? I'm assuming replacing the valve is way outside my wheel house? Is there anything I can do to get by until I do have the $500?
