Post Body

So on Sunday, while driving, my car shut off, and well, I parked it. Looked at the oil and my worse fear: there is water in my oil. Beautiful milkshake color. So my general question: does any one have experience with these 2.7 engines? I have a quote for 1200 to do the timing belt and water pump. The problem is mostly, that is 1/3 of the value of my car is going to go into getting the job done.

I redid the entire front end when I bought it. Rear shocks, it needs front shocks.

I got a big fear of this motor giving out if I keep going with the repairs, do I do the repair and sell it? what do you think /r/MechanicAdvice? I hope this fits into the sub, as it's a multiple part question I suppose. The timing belt is a pain to do, most of the cost is labor, however I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

EDIT: The water pump is driven by the timing chain(I believe), and the face of it sits in the same chamber as where the timing chain as kept, so when the water pump went, it went in a spectacular fashion, sucked coolant right into my engine.

Thanks to nothingbutt, here is a better description: http://www.foobert.com/blog/2006/12/11/water-pump-replacement-in-a-chrysler-27l-engine/comment-page-1/
