Post Body

First the treads of a new spark plug was overtorqued to the point spark plug porcelain unsealed from the treads. I didn’t do that

Then I showed up and used a extractor from a autozone rental kit, went to buy a tap driver, then while attempting to extract the extractor tap broke off at the tip which is now wedged in the spark plug treads.

I thought about buying some sort of long expensive drill type extractor to try to get the broken extractor out 🥲 but I’m worried it is probably hardened and hard to drill through then pieces could also fall into head.

I’m not sure I can handle pulling head but I have most 1st/2nd year auto tech tools, but I don’t know what else to do.

This lady called me to do this repair I should just cut my losses but I really want to help this family as they have been through it lately with lots of unfortunate events. Her mother passed away 1 day before the car issue started. I would love to take on the job and save this family as much as possible, but I’m not 100% sure I can complete it but if I put days of work into it I need to make something. I’m thinking of offering to pull the head for $600 in labor and just taking on the extensive job, hoping 2-3 days. I guess I need to sell a new timing tensioner, valve cover gaskets, head gaskets and head bolts.

🤷🏽😞
