P0401 EGR Code

Have a 99 Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 OHV. Has about 323,000 miles. Running the code but seems it not having any performance issues. Replaced the DPFE sensor but that did not fix it. Shop says the intakes may be clogged and suggested pulling out the upper and lower intake and cleaning them. I haven't replaced the valve yet.
With the mileage and age and not having major issues should I worry too much about it?
