Should I pay the extra to get LIQUI MOLY or get a Euro spec American oil
Post Body

I live in British Columbia, Canada have a 2002 vw gti 1.8t, running well at 269k km, I was using Kirkland synthetic before for topping off and other American oils for oil changes I’m sure, but then I went to a euro auto shop and they switched out for a German filter and oil, LIQUI MOLY, and I got a significant increase in mileage.

I ended up having to go to a new shop for a new oil pan very soon after, and they changed the filter and oil out, but I know they used euro spec oil, but I don’t know the brand as that’s what it says on the invoice, I was assuming castrol since they’re a Chevy shop and I don’t imagine they’re importing euro stuff in.

I’ve only had one full tank since then, noticing a bit of a drop in mileage, not sure if it’s my heavy foot but I’ll see again soon after this tank, but I’m genuinely curious if I want to keep this thing running for a while, and get better gas mileage, would it be smarter to get LIQUI MOLY, is there an actual German oil you can get here in Canada besides ordering from a German import store or paying extra, like a lot extra at a place like napa ($100 a f***ing 5L jug) or, is a euro spec oil like castrol euro going to do the same thing?

I hope this isn’t too confusing to understand what I’m asking😂
