Looking for some next step advice on the matter. I've had the truck about 8-9 days now. Started at roughly 86,818 leaving the used truck dealer, 86,947 on it as it sits right now. Light popped on while going 3 miles up the road today, got home and scanned it.
P06DD - The TSB says "Vehicle setting code P06DD, no or low oil pressure, oil control valve may be stuck off commanding high oil pressures (95 psi) and or oil pump face may be damaged." From what I've gathered, this is due to a few potential things and I'm trying some of the "easy fixes" first. I've just changed the oil, which I don't think the dealer did due to the outer condition of the Napa Gold filter. Didn't see any glitter in the oil, but it did look older. Put in Dexos approved oil and a Delco filter. Cleared the code to see if it pops again, don't have the time to run it around tonight. If old/junky oil isn't the issue, what else can I check besides running it to a mechanic to check the timing chain tensioner guide, or replacing the oil pump and solenoid?
Oil Pressure - One thing I cannot find a steady answer to, is what the normal operating pressures are for these engines. Does anyone have an answer on this? I ask because now I'm paranoid about the pressure until I can verify it if it was just bad oil and filter or if I need to get a fix done. Since I purchased it, the truck seemed to start, idle, and normally run in the 40 range. Until touching the throttle, seems to start right now and sit between 40-50. Afterwards, it will hover at idle right at 40.
I never saw the fuel pressure peg out like the TSB says about 95 psi, I don't think I saw it hit the 60 mark.
Am I looking at a ticking time bomb, or am I overthinking this for the moment? Thanks for any help y'all can provide.
