A burnt or gun powdery smell from AC?

I just picked up my car from mechanic, I originally took it because I busted the drain plug and they had to replace it (cause the end broke off in the radiator. I must mention this was after I mixed to coolants and tried doing a flush myself. When I picked it up there was no antifreeze in resivor tank so I put some in but when I turned on the AC it smells like the air is a little burnt or gun powdery? Any suggestions?
