I'll preface this by saying I am by no means a mechanic and in fact I'm pretty dumb when it comes to cars. I'm not even sure if I'm in the correct subreddit for this issue but Ive been short on cash for a while now and I'm trying to handle all my car maintenance myself. I'm just learning as I go and I've been doing well with oil changes, brakes, and tires but this issue has really stumped me.
So my Ac/heat/fan stopped working. Being a novice my first thought was to check the blower motor and resistor as I read it's pretty common for those to go out. I replaced both and nothing changed so I went and saw a friend who tested the old blower motor and said it was fine. I was advised that it was almost certainly an electrical issue so I put the old blower motor back in and moved on to the next idea.
Next I was advised to check the fuses. I replaced the 2 10v red fuses, there's one under the hood and one under the dash, that connect to the A/C and nothing changed.
I noticed that all the lights associated with the ac/heat/fan, on the dash, worked except one (picture attached). So I figured the short must be with the switch whose light isnt working. So I tore the dash apart and replaced the switch. Nothing changed. So I replaced the wire that attaches to the switch and connects it to the plastic gears that, presumably, controls the heat and air. And, of course, nothing worked.
So now I need direction. I'm reading about relays and wires and I'm just so lost. What do I test next? It's getting cold and id really like to have my heat work and at this point it's become personal and I need to win this battle.
