Can testing the wrong adapter/interface short my system? ((CHTO-02 adapter in an '06 Grand Caravan w/ Infinity Sound System))
Post Body

We have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan w/ DVD player & Infinity Sound System (van has an amp). I'm replacing the factory stereo w/ an aftermarket unit which I'm going to need to bypass the amp on (or use an adapter).

While at the junk yard I found a "CHTO-02 Chrysler/Dodge Data Interface" that was hooked up in some other dodge vehicle. Crutchfield says it doesn't fit in my Dodge. I just compared the input wiring harness included and it almost matches up with my (separately purchased) aftermarket wiring harness for our van. There are wires in the same slots on both, with the color of the wire being the difference. This adapter's harness does have the red Acc. wire looped to another hole (which is the "ANT" wire on my aftermarket harness. But this thing snaps right into my Caravan!

I can wire this interface up and turn it on, just afraid I'll short something out. Would it be safe to try or an instant mistake? I hope this wasn't too hard to read! TIA
