Is obd1 a dealbreaker when buying?

Been looking for a new project lately or at least to get a new daily and swap my current car. I know obd1 can make diags finicky and I’ve dealt with it before but are there any reasons why obd1 would be a bad idea? I really enjoy older euro and jdm body styles but unfortunately most of the body styles I want are pre 97
