Biting the bullet on my repair
Post Body

Hi guys,

I appreciate all the help and advice that has been offered. I now have a plan in place to get begin repairs on my 08 Chevy Aveo and I would appreciate one final bit of advice. Here is the previous post if you need to catch up.

I have opted to focus on getting the car MOVING and forego the AC repairs until spring when hopefully any parts that will fail as a result of its stagnation have failed and been sorted. I’m focusing my efforts on the water pump and I’m going to replace the thermostat and Fluids. HOPING to get it moving for around $100. I’m mentally preparing to replace the fuel filter and radiator hoses. But once I finish the repairs, I’m not adding coolant, just doing water as I prepare for it to fail again. An concern was raised about the original radiator failing and I don’t think that’ll be a point of failure as the front has been rebuilt twice from accidents.

My point of this post is: while I’m trying to get this moving, what other parts should I replace? Timing belt? Serpentine? I’d like to catch the “cheap” stuff or parts likely to fail from sitting while I’m in there already.

Thank you all for your advice and hopefully my next post will be an update with positive news…if that
