Can’t start the car

I already posted but I’m gonna do it again because I need a more concrete answer if possible. I just got a new battery installed and I checked the voltage with a multimeter to make sure that it’s a healthy battery; it showed 12.4 volts so it’s good. When I insert the key, the lights and headlights all come on, but when I attempt to actually start the engine, all I get is a single click. What is the problem? How much will it cost? Will I need to get it towed to a mechanic or can I solve the issue myself?
