Did I ruin my brother's car? please help

2011 camry. I jumped my car and put the connections on backwords while the other car was running. I realized what I did after I walked away and smelled something expensive.

Car started right up only it's running a little fun key, killed my engine light, reset all the electronics as if the battery died all the way (which it didn't)

Also, sometimes it gets sad and randomly dies. The first time I shifted it into drive after it had been running for about 10 minutes, it died. Sitting in the parking lot now, just letting it run...

Do you think I fried something?
