Rev - limiting Early

So I have a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis with a 4.6 liter V8 the rev limiter usually/used to be around 5,000 rpm as of now it’s around 4,000 rpm, additionally there is a ticking that comes from around the left side of the dash or below the drivers seat not very loud but I notice it quite often. If anyone know what this might be I’m listening.
