bachelor in nursing as pre-med and taking the mcat.
Post Body

I'm sorry if this is a little bit messy I'm just panicking and I don't know what to do.

nursing is a wonderful and fascinating field, and so is medicine.

my original plan was: double major in psych/biology (and take pre-med reqs) and then try and apply to med school, and if I wouldn't get accepted id go do an accelerated bsn.

I am "dead set" on med school since I really enjoy learning about the ins and outs of all diseases and I want to be able to treat and cure these diseases and not only cure and manage the "symptoms"

I am a senior in hs trying to think about the possibilities of me being a bsn student while taking pre-med requirements. (I come from a pretty lower-class family, so Iโ€™m really scared of not getting admitted to med school and having 2 degrees that I cant work with unless I get a PhD. and I don't think that I would want to waste 2 other years for the accelerated bsn. (and I'm pretty sure that if I wouldn't get admitted to med school id be happy to work as an rn until I feel like I'm stable enough to go to med school)

would having the bsn and taking the nursing classes give me an advantage when it comes to the mcat?

I felt like I had to point this out but if I would choose the bsn program I wouldn't be taking the place of someone who wants to be a nurse since the school that I'm applying to accepts everyone (who had taken the right classes and has the grades) since we have a huge shortage in nurses.

I could graduate with any bsn/bs/ba in only 3 years since I have credits and I would be immediately admitted to sophomore year (and there is no โ€œpre-nursingโ€ where I live it's just a major)

and if would want to be a bsn and take the pre-med classes it'd take me 4 years to graduate.

I was thinking about double majoring in nursing and psych (while taking the pre-med requirements) but that seems literally impossible.

so maybe if I choose to major in nursing and minor in psych and take the pre-med classes. does that sound okay or does it still sound unrealistic?
