I (Asian Guy) arrived here in Australia just 3months ago and this is my first time abroad. I come here to start a new life with my partner. So I applied to many companies here and Iām so glad McDonaldās/Maccas hired me. I was so excited to work because of the new environment and people Iām going to meet. To cut the story short, I had a short shift today(8pm-11:30pm) as I work part-time. It was not a busy night so I worked 2 stations at a time(grill and fry) so itās still a challenge for me. English is just my second language so understanding Aussie slang is a big challenge for me because we were thought using American English back home and thatās one of the problem I am currently working on. I also notice some of my workmates donāt want to talk to me because of my accent. So right after my shift I asked for a cup of water at the front counter standing just between kitchen area and the front area waiting for that cup of water which everyone are doing everytime. Suddenly the shift manager on duty(who just came to work) shouted at me saying ā Yeah you can go home and GET OUT OF HERE!ā I was shocked and I saw everyone(customers and the girl who assisted me getting my cup of water) and they were in shocked too. I knew that all crews working at BA shouldnāt be roaming around at the FC but I was just asking for water and about to tell that manager Iāll be going home as my shift has ended. So after taking the water I go straight to the lockers area to get my things and after couple of minutes, the girl who gave me water comes to me asking me if Iām ok. She said āIām just checking you if youāre okā, which is a very kind gesture. I think she knew that somethingās wrong on what the manager did and I was really upset that time because of what happened. I canāt get rid of it from my mind and having anxiety now. š
