I went to my local McDonaldâs with my daughter for a sit down in the dining room meal. I put my order in on the Kiosk and asked the person at the counter for my cups so we could get our drinks. The person said âthe cups come with your food and are already filled with what you requestedâ and I thought âso I canât have my drinks until I get my food, thatâs dumb, I can fill my own drinks but whateverâ so I said ok and sat down.
We sat there for 10 mins waiting for our food (and drinks) before I got up and stood at the counter.
I noticed 3 screen behind the counter, one labeled drive thru, one labeled pickup, and the other dine-in. My dine in order was 2nd from top. So I sat down.
I waited another 10 mins and I walked up and noticed my order was still 2nd from top and I asked what was the issue. The counter person said, drive thru is really busy and walked away. I stood there watching the drive thru screen show customers getting their food with in 2-3 minutes and the pickup order screen only having orders on it for 5 mins. Whereas I stood there for another 10 mins before my food was finally ready.
I fully understand the need to run through drive thru orders quickly, but why did I have to wait 30 mins for my food? Why not process all orders in the speed they come through. I really thought it would be quicker to go drive thru the line, order my food and sit down inside.
Also, seriously why couldnât I have my drinks right away? Give me the cups, I can fill them myself.
I used to work at Tim's and drive though was always prioritized with incentives from corporate for good times. Us workers never seen that tho
