Hello!
I am currently a student in Animation Mentor, and I have a few questions regarding walk cycles. If someone could help me, it would be fantastic!
First - what is the more "industrial" approach to animate those cycles? The way I have learned it is by moving the whole body, leg by leg, on the Z. But when looking at some YouTube tutorials I have noticed most of them just animate the character in the same position. I guess that afterward they move the character on the Z axis and sync it to the leg speed to look reliable (or just move the background) - is there any "preferred" option?
Second - If I decide to move my character on the Z axis and to create a "real" body movement (not walking in place) should my Z axis be completely straight or that the transition between each pose (contact, down, passing, up) is not even?
And - Is there a way to calculate what is the perfect distance between the two legs in contact pose in relation to the character's height? I feel like every time I try to pose the contact, I'm kind of guessing where should the legs be.
TNX!
