Hiya! I just watched the first episode and felt something a bit off about our female leader Ruby.

I'm used to fanfiction and well, romantic comedys that indulge in a bit of banter or at least internal monologue type stuff, and discovering Ruby's passive demeanor in front of a stupid boy and a scared sister was a bit boring, seeing that they went to show her as a really focused and strong young woman I hoped to hear her defending herself, she seemed capable enough of it with her professor and in front of her headmaster at the end, so why would she just shut up and take it from a random rich guy? I am confused, bored about their dynamic and it was a few minutes long. Like, I was making up retorts in my head any time James tried his best to bribe her and she just... Stared like ??? Alright big guy, get off bye bye! But it wasn't enough indifference or really honest disgust to me? Looked like she just threw her sexy stare at him in a pft catch me if you can💅 with a lot less sass than I imagined it would have , I really hoped to like it and I feel maybe it would be worth the time but I never liked them wattpady adaptations much because of these things. (The energy feels always a bit tame to me in comparison to the written original stuff)

I truly enjoy the enemies to lovers kinda thing and don't want to be disappointed 😞 I want an honest opinion about how I interpreted Ruby here, since she's mostly the driving force of the whole series and if I should just give her time to fire up or drop the series altogether because I might not like her that much
