In the AOTC duel with Dooku why does Obi-Wan throw Anakin his lightsaber?

Never really got it. Analin usually fights with one saber and here he is fighting against one opponent using a single saber. Are two lightsabers inherently better than one in a duel? If so why doesn't just Anakin always carry two like other Jedi do. Surely having to adjust his technique to use two sabers when he presumably trains with one is going to put him at a massive disadvantage
