"Hunt for Gollum" no longer a duology, but more LotR films definitely incoming.

On the plus side, it looks like they learned one lesson from the fiasco of the Hobbit trilogy.

But, man, I'm torn.

On one hand, PJ's LotR trilogy are my favorite films. I consider them one of the most triumphant accomplishments in cinema and fantasy. While not pure and perfect adaptations, they do a phenomenonal job serving as means of easing into Tolkien's world. PJ honored the Professor's themes and characters. He put his own spin on things, but he did it with purpose. The aesthetic is PEAK High Fantasy.

On the other, I think PJ and crew should step aside and let someone else with skill and passion take over. The Hobbit was a mess; mostly it was incompetence from the higher ups, but PJ didn't have his heart in the Hobbit and it shows.

I do want more chances to explore Middle-Earth on the screen, but I don't want it if it isn't done with sincerity, care, and passion.
