That the editing in this show is way too heavy-handed.
I feel like it gets worse with each successive season, and it honestly offends me as a viewer that the producers don't seem to think I'm capable of interpreting their show and they have to do it for me.
While it's true that they have a responsibility to make the show entertaining, they don't need to do that by turning it into a soap opera. How about telling us more about the cooking techniques? This isn't a drama series, it's a cooking contest.
What annoyed me more than anything was probably the fact that the episode-opening confessionals and the teasers posted by Fox on Youtube basically gave away the episodes' results before they aired. The editing is so damn predictable that you can tell from the staging of the episode how it's going to end.
If they really want the show to be entertaining and not leave us all feeling cheated at the end of a season, they need to curtail the drama a bit and give us subtle surprises. Instead, they try so hard to throw us for a loop that it becomes obvious what's going to happen simply because of the editing precedents. It's irritating. The setup to every event is so transparently constructed that a five-year-old could figure out what narrative they're going for.
