Engels’ defense of authoritarianism?
Post Body

I think that in Anti-Duhring, there is a clear defense of an authoritarian state, at least for a transitory period. Obviously the dictatorship of the proletariat is something that Marx (and certainly interpreters like Lenin or Lukacs) would advocate for, but Engels seemed to be toying with an idea for a more permanent authoritarian government in order to ensure that the socialist society couldn’t be dismantled. Can anyone else offer another insight or perspective?
