Okay it's not like a huge theory, but in the season finale we see Maya confront Kingpin and then when they are both off screen we hear a gunshot and Kingpin abruptly stops talking. I think Kingpin is still alive and offscreen he either grabbed the gun from Maya and shot her with it, or he had a gun hidden. But I don't think, with the large demand for Vincent D'Onofrio to take on this role again, that they'd kill him off after one and a bit episodes
