Help me to understand how i got slingshot to number 2 in arena.

So i was number 3. 5 minutes left before payout. I saw number 1 and 2 and tried attacking number 1 and i managed to attack. I stalled until 3 seconds left before payout to deal final blow. And when the payout time is there i am at number..... 2?

I get it if i got slingshot all the way back to number 12 or 24 god forbid. But how did i got to number 2? Shouldn't at least i got slingshot back to number 3? Because it was impossible for the number 2 to attack me.

Anyway i hope the new player council manage to convince dev to come up with a new arena system or whatever. This whole slingshotting shenanigans have got to go.
