So I just got a Marvel Unlimited subscription and have started reading comics more(started with Captain America, Planet Hulk, now exclusively Planet Hulk cause it's awesome). I've always liked the idea of comics but never really got into them that much (although I've read most of walking dead and about half of sandman, wanted, incredible, among others). My Fiancee asked me a question last night that I didn't really have an answer too. What's the deal with different runs of comic books? As in, why are there different iterations of the same character? For example, with spiderman, there are multiple Peter Parkers in different universes. I thought I knew the answer, like different writers and trying to shake things up. Does this post even make sense? Can anyone help explain? Thanks!
