Hey all, I've grown up near Harrisonburg most of my life, and have lived in Newport News for a while. I just cannot keep affording to live here or the valley. I found a house near Martinsville, and was wondering what to expect should I jump on it. How are the schools? Is there a Martin's grocery store? (Please tell me there is... I run premium and I can usually score gas for $25/tank at their fuel center) How long does it take to get to either Lynchburg or Roanoke? Daycare options that aren't on waiting lists that are decent? Automotive careers for disabled folks?
Just give me everything you can! I really want to hear from those who have lived/live there currently to tell me if this would be a great idea to move there if I buy my starter home there with my family. I have 2 babies and will be having both my husband and my coparent coming to live with me, so we're looking at a 5 bedroom house.
I'm fine with small town life for a few years, the house is closer to Collinsville, just not by a lot.
